A rose unlike any other
Damask Rose (Rosa damascena) is one of the most precious plants in the world. It takes approximately 4,000 kg of petals — hand-picked at sunrise, between May and June — to obtain a single liter of essential oil. This figure alone speaks volumes about its rarity and value.
Artisanally cultivated in Corsica in an exceptional microclimate — Mediterranean heat, mineral soils, coastal humidity — our Damask Rose develops an aromatic concentration that industrial varieties never achieve. The Corsican soil, wind, and island sun give it a unique soul.
What science says
Damask Rose floral water is one of the most studied in natural cosmetics. Its richness in phenylethyl alcohol — its main compound — gives it clinically documented soothing, anti-inflammatory, and moisturizing properties.
Soothing & anti-inflammatory Phenylethyl alcohol inhibits mediators of skin inflammation. Result: redness decreases, irritation soothes, and reactive skin regains comfort.
Hydration & hydrolipidic film Damask Rose floral water restores the skin's hydrolipidic film — this natural protective layer that stress, pollution, and aggressive cleansers gradually destroy. Skin regains its suppleness and resilience.
Pore tightening Its slightly astringent action visibly tightens dilated pores and unifies skin texture over the long term.
Skin microbiota balance Recent studies show that Damask Rose floral water promotes a balanced skin microbiota — this invisible ecosystem that protects the skin from pathogenic bacteria and regulates its immunity.
The Corsican rose — a radical choice
Cultivating Damask Rose in Corsica is a daring gamble that only a few producers have taken. The plant is demanding, the harvest entirely manual, and yields are low. We could have imported a standardized, cheaper floral water, industrially produced in Bulgaria or Morocco.
We didn't. Because the Corsican Damask Rose is not the same plant. The terroir gives it a unique aromatic and biochemical profile — more concentrated, more complex, more effective.
In our products
Damask Rose is present in our Purifying Astringent Mousse n°2 — the Lavender Mousse — where it forms an exceptional anti-inflammatory trio with Stoechas Lavender and Immortelle. It is also present in our Micellar Water P4, for its gentleness and soothing action from the first step of the ritual.
"The Corsican rose is unlike any other — the soil, the wind, the island sun give it a unique soul."
